The short film " KARA" refers to her being equipped with a battery "making autonomous for 173 years", but as this is a proto-canon detail it might not be accurate in the present game.Īndroids may emulate human temperature, but can be distinguished from humans with a thermal scanner. It is unclear if and how androids replenish their energy. Androids can silently speak wirelessly among themselves and can access or share information and memory by touch. As such they can directly make phone calls or place online shopping orders. When interfacing with something by touch, the android's skin locally deactivates. Īndroids are capable of-wirelessly and by touch-interfacing with technology, communications systems, and other androids. Other androids have different capabilities but the majority of them are capable to recognize individuals and objects with speed not much slower than human reaction time.Īt the back of the neck, visible as a dark spot on skinless androids, is a port that enables connecting to the android via cable. Due to his advanced ocular scanning system, he can see Thirium 310 blood and tell exact model and serial number of any android. Recent new police androids in 2038 like the RK800 (Connor) have prodigious mental processing and perception capabilities, notably allowing them to analyze a crime scene and virtually reconstruct it in their minds based on analysis of gathered evidence. For example, the RT600 Chloe's brain is capable of performing "several billion billion operations per second", or exaflops, with the newest models able to perform several exaflops. It can also be removed by forcing it out, making them look authentically close to a human.Īndroid brains are highly advanced, giving them the processing power to work like and interact with humans on an equal level or above. On their right temple, they bear a circular LED that visibly identifies them as androids and lights up in blue, yellow, or red, depending to their mental processing and condition. At least some models can alter their appearance with this, such as change their hair color at will (e.g., AX400). This retraction or deactivation is controllable by the android, but also happens in case of damage, due to the fluid automatically retracting or due to the damage itself. The outer skin and hair can be activated and deactivated partially or fully, switching between the human and plastic-white appearance. The human-like outer skin is made up of a synthetic fluid that covers the body the androids' hair is similarly generated. In their basic form, androids appear as bare, plastic-white human bodies, with a few sections colored in gray or blue. Thirium 310 is impossible to see with the naked eye once evaporated. Internally they feature biocomponents, synthetic organs that roughly mirror the organ systems of humans, and Thirium 310 or "blue blood" that circulates energy and electronic information throughout the android body. If you’ve managed projects, taken a project management methodologies course online, and have the skills you need to be a strong project manager, you are a project manager!Įven if you’re not currently employed as a Project Manager, it’s still honest and appropriate to use it as your headline if it’s what you know and love and want to do.Ĭandidates typically use headlines like “seeking opportunities” because they’re insecure about a gap on their resume and they’re trying to explain it away. If you’ve worked as a Project Manager in the past, you are a project manager! What matters to me (and more importantly what matters to hiring managers) is whether you have the necessary skills and passion to succeed on the job. I don’t care whether or not you currently hold the job title. Repeat after me: “I am more than my employment status.” So why would you lead your profile (or any job search communication for that matter) with anything other than your best answer to this question? 2. Candidates with “Project Manager” written in their headline appear highest in search results, followed by those who include the keywords further down on their profile. Let’s say a recruiter is searching for Project Manager candidates on LinkedIn. If you put yourself in a recruiter’s shoes, it makes total sense. CRTĬRT versions were products that appeared quite early in the 1950s and became a popular device more than 30 years later, thanks to the Barco brand. Therefore, the image will be on the back of the screen, but the front is entirely standard. This device does its job by magnifying the image inside the TV and reflecting it through the mirror. However, the screens in the rear projector units have the limited fixed size of a typical TV frame. The advantage of this technology is that your TV will look more significant (up to 40 inches) than a traditional CRT. This type of projector was quite popular in the early days of traditional LCD TVs in the 2000s. The task of this detail is to help project the image onto the screen in front. Rear projection uses display technology with CRT, LCD, or digital light processing (DLP) inside the frame. The visibility of this device is excellent at 8 feet and 10 feet.įor families or businesses that often install this TV projection into the room, the screen will be fixed on the wall or dropped from the ceiling by remote control.īesides, if you want to change the size, you can do the screen replacement and move the device closer or further away. At the same time, the TV also becomes a small-scale cinema screen for home use, providing an enjoyable experience. The benefit of a projection TV is that the resulting image will be much larger than most standard models. Therefore, projection TV has also developed similarly. They appeared and have replaced older products like the old-fashioned, extra-large cathode-ray tube (CRT) TVs. We can list several types of TVs, such as LCD TVs or Plasma TVs. The task of screen technology is to create an image, and projector technology will be responsible for transmitting and putting the image on the screen.Īt the same time, today’s TVs have also grown in a wide variety, allowing you to choose more efficiently, according to your preferences and the space you use. A projection TV results from technical and technological research made up of television technology and projector technology. This resulted in substantial discrepancies in net performance: When they knew they’d be ranked, male participants solved almost 40% more problems than female participants. But when they were explicitly told that they would be ranked, men performed better than those who weren’t told anything, while women performed a lot worse. When participants weren’t told that they’d be ranked, men and women performed at essentially the same level. Nevertheless, we found that just anticipating that they would be ranked significantly impacted participants’ performance, and that the impact was noticeably different for men and for women. To be clear, the only thing that changed between the two groups was whether they were told beforehand that they would be ranked - both were financially incentivized in exactly the same way. Then, we told one group of participants that a peer would rank them against each other based on their performance, while participants in the other group weren’t told anything, enabling us to isolate the effects of social status ranking. This meant they were all equally incentivized to solve the problems, and were thus not competing for financial resources. The participants were asked to complete simple problems in which they searched for numbers and added them up, and they were told that they would receive one Euro for each problem they completed. To better understand how social status ranking affects men and women differently (and how these assessment systems may, as a result, be hampering organizations’ efforts to retain women), my colleagues and I conducted a series of lab experiments with students in Spain, which I later replicated in Italy and the Netherlands. Performance rankings don’t necessarily involve competition for tangible resources, but they do create competition for another kind of resource: social status. Prior studies have shown that men and women can respond differently to competition, but these studies have mostly looked at environments in which people compete for scarce physical or financial resources. How could an ostensibly objective, unbiased evaluation system foster inequity? A performance management system in which employees are ranked against one another creates a particular kind of competitive environment. Prior research has explored various pros and cons of these systems, but one area that has remained largely unexamined is their impact on gender representation. Specifically, many companies employ some form of ranking mechanism to assess employees’ performance relative to each other, and then determine advancement accordingly. Of course, there are many reasons for this - but one of the key, systemic factors driving this ongoing challenge lies in how companies approach performance assessments and promotions. Unfortunately, while these initiatives can help organizations get more female candidates in the door, they often fall short when it comes to retention and development. Much effort has been spent on improving gender equity in hiring. Based on these findings, the authors argue that organizations should build awareness of the potential harms of ranking employees, and that they should consider either adapting or totally overhauling existing performance evaluation systems to focus more on individual progress, and less on social comparisons. They suggest that this likely stems from deeply-ingrained stereotypes that lead men to believe they are better than women in competitive environments, and that lead women to prioritize avoiding harming others. In this piece, the authors discuss their recent research on this topic, which found that competitive evaluation systems in which employees are ranked against one another can cause men to perform better and women to perform worse (on a task for which their performance would otherwise be roughly the same). But to achieve more equitable representation, it’s also critical to examine disparities in how employees are evaluated and promoted once they’re on board. When it comes to gender equity in the workplace, many organizations focus largely on hiring more women. |
